Rains and snow fill Lake Yliki with water (video)

The recent wave of severe weather resulted in a large volume of water making its way toward the lake

Heavy rainfall in Central Greece, combined with snowfall on the surrounding mountains, has led to large quantities of water flowing toward Lake Yliki, replenishing part of the water it had lost.

Lake Yliki was incorporated into Athens’ water supply system in 2024, along with the Mavrosouvala boreholes at the foothills of Mount Parnitha, due to declining water reserves. As reported by protothema.gr, approximately 40% of the city’s water consumption is covered by these “backup” sources, while the remaining 60% comes from the Mornos and Evinos reservoirs.
