Mitsotakis on the dismantling of networks by AADE and the Hellenic Police: “‘Legality Everywhere’ is a constant commitment for us”

“Our message is clear: The fight against lawlessness and impunity is ongoing,” writes the Prime Minister

Newsroom February 13 01:00

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis sends the message that the slogan “Legality Everywhere” is becoming a reality in everyday life, following both the revelation by AADE of the straw-man fraud network and the dismantling by the police of the cigarette smuggling network led by the so-called “President” and “Putin.”

In a Facebook post, the Prime Minister wrote, “from the streets of cities, neighborhoods, and universities, to stadiums, occupations, and economic activity, our message is clear: the fight against lawlessness and impunity is continuous.”

He also notes that the Greek “FBI” has, since October 2024, handled 958 cases, dismantled 173 organizations, and arrested 3,094 perpetrators, while tax authorities have examined dozens of cases of serious tax evasion and smuggling. Mitsotakis emphasizes that:

“This is a battle that requires time and consistency, serving as a security catalyst for citizens and a key to their trust in the State.”

“We continue. ‘Legality Everywhere’ is for us a constant commitment,” Mitsotakis concludes in his post.

Mitsotakis’ Post

Despite challenges, the slogan “Legality Everywhere” is becoming a reality in everyday life. From the streets of cities, neighborhoods, and universities, to stadiums, occupations, and economic activity, the message is clear: the fight against lawlessness and impunity is continuous.

Already, AADE has dismantled a fraud network with hundreds of straw men who embezzled €43 million from the state and social security funds—money that could have gone to better hospitals and schools instead of ending up in the pockets of criminal gangs.

At the same time, the Hellenic Police uncovered a large criminal organization producing and distributing illegal tobacco products, operating both domestically and internationally—a demonstration of the challenges posed by modern crime.

These successes are not isolated. Since October 2024 alone, the Organized Crime Division has handled 958 cases, dismantled 173 organizations, and arrested 3,094 perpetrators, now in the hands of justice.

During the same period, tax authorities have scrutinized dozens of cases of serious tax evasion and smuggling, involving networks brazenly operating in the market. Unfortunately, some operate even in corrupt pockets within the “deep state.”

It is important to recognize the progress made, which shows that serious steps are being taken against lawlessness. However, this is a battle that requires time and consistency, acting as a security catalyst for citizens and a key to their trust in the State.

We continue. “Legality Everywhere” is a constant commitment for us.
