Nepal has been turned into a veritable endless cemetery. The monster-quake which reached 7.9 on the Richter scale now brings up the estimate of dead to 1,900.

Rescue crews are looking for survivors with bare hands and pickaxes as they fight against time to pick up the pieces of what used to be cities. The infrastructure of the country does not help at all, however, as the tiny roads and lack of city planning make bulldozers’ approach difficult.

The rescue crews are about o face even more challenges as meteorologists forecast rains in the next few days.

In Katmandu, rescue crews are focusing on the Darahara tower, in which it is estimated that 200 more people are trapped.

The number of wounded is estimated to be over 4,700, while 400 of the dead were recorded in the capital.

On Mt. Everest, the earthquake caused a strong rockslide which killed 17 people, amongst which a Google executive. The company has donated 1 million dollars to the Nepalese government.

There are extremely serious problems in hospitals as well, as Katmandu hospitals are over capacity.
