The Greek force in Saudi Arabia (ELDYSA) activated the systems following a threat alert, launching two missiles to intercept the target.

This interception was part of Greece’s participation in the international initiative “Integrated Air Missile Defense (IAMD) Concept”, supporting the air defense of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Earlier, the Saudi Ministry of Defense reported that a ballistic missile had been intercepted while heading toward the city of Yanbu, which is currently a focus of Iranian air attacks as it hosts the Saudi Aramco–Exxon refinery. Sources told Reuters that the impact of the attacks was minimal.

Yanbu, located on the Red Sea, is the port through which an alternative pipeline for Saudi oil exports terminates.
