The United States has won the war with Iran, said Donald Trump, who dismissed the possibility of a ceasefire with Tehran, adding that the Strait of Hormuz “will open on its own.”
Speaking to reporters on Friday at the White House, he ruled out the possibility of moving toward a ceasefire. He explained that “you don’t make a ceasefire when you are literally wiping out the other side.”

“I think we’ve won,” he also said.
Regarding the Strait of Hormuz, he stated that “it’s a simple military operation, relatively safe, but you need a lot of help, in the sense that you need many ships.”
He once again attacked NATO, saying that “it could help us, but so far it hasn’t found the courage to do so.”
However, he emphasized that, in his view, China should get involved in reopening the Straits, which he claimed “will open on their own at some point.”
He also said, “We don’t use the Strait of Hormuz—we don’t need it. Europe, South Korea, Japan and China need it, they should get involved a bit.”
He further claimed, when asked about sending troops to Iran, that “I seem to have a lot of support. CNN published a poll today saying I have 100%—they said they’ve never seen anything like it.”
