Emergency traffic regulations are in effect in Athens due to the military parade celebrating the national anniversary of March 25, 1821.
Traffic regulations for Metro and Tram
STASY informs the public that, due to today’s military parade for the celebration of the National Anniversary of March 25, the following traffic measures will be in place:
The “Syntagma” Metro station, by order of the Hellenic Police, will be closed from 8:00 a.m. until the end of the military parade; trains will pass through without stopping.
Tram Line 6 “Pikrodafni – Syntagma” will terminate at the “Fix” stop (Pikrodafni – Fix – Pikrodafni) from the start of operations until the end of the parade.
Tram Line 7 “Asklipieio Voulas – Akti Poseidonos Piraeus” will terminate at the “SEF” stop (Asklipieio Voulas – SEF – Asklipieio Voulas) from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and at the “P. Dimarcheio” stop (P. Dimarcheio – SEF – P. Dimarcheio) from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Celebration events for the March 25, 1821 national anniversary
06:21 – 21 gun salutes from the Lycabettus artillery and performance of morning music by the Armed Forces and Security Forces on central streets of Athens.
08:00 – Official raising of the National Flag at the Acropolis.
10:00 – Thanksgiving service at the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Annunciation, led by His Beatitude Archbishop Ieronymos II of Athens and All Greece, followed at 10:01 by 21 gun salutes from the Lycabettus artillery.
10:55 – Wreath-laying at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier by the President of the Hellenic Republic.
11:00 – Parade of Armed Forces and Security Forces units in front of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, attended by the President of the Hellenic Republic.
18:41 – Official lowering of the National Flag at the Acropolis with simultaneous 21 gun salutes from the Lycabettus artillery.
