Case file for illegal animal breeding on a rooftop in Ampelokipoi: Goats, chickens, ducks in unsuitable living conditions, video and photos
A case file has been formed by the Ampelokipoi Police Department against a Greek national, as well as a property management company, for violating animal protection legislation (Law 4830/2021), following an investigation into a case involving illegal animal breeding on the rooftop of a building in Ampelokipoi.
According to the police, the case came to light following a complaint, with officers from the Ampelokipoi Police Department immediately conducting an inspection at a building on Kifisias Avenue. During the on-site inspection, it was found that a makeshift installation had been constructed in the shared rooftop area, where farm animals were being kept under unsuitable sanitary conditions.
Specifically, according to a statement by the Hellenic Police, “goats, chickens, ducks, and other birds were located and collected, living in makeshift enclosures with visible signs of filth and inadequate care.” The living conditions were deemed inappropriate, triggering the procedures provided for the protection of animals and the safeguarding of public health.
The competent Animal Protection Prosecutor was immediately informed, while, under the coordination of the Hellenic Police, the relevant authorities were mobilized to ensure the safe removal of the animals, their health inspection, and the recording of any possible urban planning violations related to the construction of the rooftop installation.
The animals were transferred to suitable shelters, where they will undergo the necessary checks, while the case file will be submitted to the competent prosecutor for further action.
