The PASOK has decided to sharply raise the tone of its confrontation with the government, calling on New Democracy to vote to lift the immunity of MPs for the full investigation of the OPEKEPE case and the Prime Minister to set up ballot boxes.
For PASOK, the rapid developments with the 11 MPs being investigated by the European Public Prosecutor’s Office are “proof” that elections must be held immediately and that, in the first instance, those mentioned in the case must be dismissed from the government. Pasok’s central offices, Harilaou Trikoupi, will attempt to coordinate its steps, possibly with SYRIZA and New Left, in the direction of a hard rock against the government, with specific moves in the plenary session of the parliament. After Nikos Androulakis’ speech at 13.00 noon, the party’s parliamentary group will meet and will be called upon to take all decisions, reject or approve the proposals that will be put on the table. In essence, it is examining, among other things, the issue of the “decree”, while the PASOK leader insists that the pre-agenda debate on the rule of law in parliament tomorrow be held at the level of political leaders, thus calling on the Prime Minister to take a full agenda. It accuses him of trying to gain time by postponing the debate until after Easter.
“It is a one-way street for Mr Mitsotakis to expel the Ministers and Deputy Ministers from the government,” say executives of Harilaou Trikoupi, citing journalistic information, which they report on the content of the new file transmitted to Parliament on the OPEKEPE scandal that includes 2 acting Ministers, 2 acting Deputy Ministers, several MPs, and the Secretary of New Democracy.” If confirmed, PASOK said in a statement, it is a one-way street for Mitsotakis to dismiss the Ministers and Deputy Ministers from the government. “Any attempt to set off against each other collapses. The OPEKEPE scandal has the signature of New Democracy all over it. Every scandal and every case is a picture of the decadence and corruption in which the New Democracy government has sunk the country,” the statement also said.
