A harsh statement on former Coalition President, Nikos Konstantopoulos, was issued by the president of the Union of Judges and Prosecutors, Christopher Sevastidis, accusing him of “vile slander.”
Calling Mr. Konstantopoulou’s “delirium”, Sevastidis noted “the last honors the first, the people say. The “Holy Family” (referring to Nikos Konstantopoulos and Zoe Konstantopoulou) was accustomed to unceasing insults, vulgar slander, and bashing against anyone who does not adopt its narrative, to remain unchecked, having the backing of a media system that grants it plenty of TV time for practice. They need to start getting used to the voice of resistance in the face of demagoguery and absurdity!
The statement of the Judges and Prosecutors Association
The personal journey of each person determines the weight of their words. The rant of a former political leader who ended up as the president of a football team can be heard in the light of compassion for a hurting father. The last shall honour the first, so the saying goes. The “Holy Family” was used to unrelenting name-calling, vulgar slander and bashing of anyone who did not subscribe to its narrative, to remain unchecked, backed by a media system that grants it plenty of TV time to practice. They need to start getting used to the voice of resistance in the face of demagoguery and absurdity! And because the days of Easter are approaching, let us not forget the timely passage from the Sermon on the Mount addressed to every state official, to every democratic citizen, “Do not give the holy of holies to the cousin.”
What Nikos Konstantopoulos had said
In a radio interview a few 24 hours ago, Nikos Konstantopoulos had accused Mr Sevastidis of “trading” with Justice Minister George Floridis because, he claimed, “there are elections in the Union of Judges and Prosecutors and what Mr Sevastidis is seeking is that no other candidate of the ND’s influence in the judiciary should run. Because Mr Sevastidis, Mr Liberopoulos, and Mr Florides have managed to misuse the judiciary, jointly seeking to subordinate the judges, but some honest judges oppose it. Do you know why both Mr Sevastidis and Mr Florides are under fire? Because the judges who decided what they decided on the wiretapping rubbed their interventions in their faces.”
