A tragedy occurred on Saturday afternoon (4/4) in the Kalamia beach area of Corinth, when a balcony collapsed, instantly killing a passing woman and lightly injuring her two children.
According to reports, the unfortunate woman had been dining with her family at a nearby taverna. They had parked their car at the exact spot where the balcony later collapsed. After finishing their meal, they went to get into the car together, when the fatal incident occurred.
According to the same information, the woman had come from Germany with her husband for the Easter holidays.
The new owner had recently purchased the building and had been carrying out structural works in recent days, without having taken the required safety measures in the external area.
As a local resident told protothema.gr:
“The balcony collapsed here on the corner and crushed a woman, who died. The woman had three children and her husband was from Germany. One of her children and her daughter were injured.”
