Friday today, and the country continues to be affected by increased concentrations of African dust mainly in western Greece and the eastern and southern island countries, according to protothema.gr meteorologist Giorgos Tsatrafyllia. The phenomenon will begin to subside on Saturday.
At the same time, today, strong north winds and local thunderstorms will be the main features of the weather. In more detail, according to George Tsatrafillias, we expect cloudy weather in most areas today, which will bring local showers at noon in northern Greece and the Peloponnese. In the Cyclades, Crete, and the Dodecanese, in the morning, there will be thunderstorms.
The maximum temperature will reach 24 to 25 degrees in western Greece and the Dodecanese.
In the evening, the mercury will not exceed 15 degrees Celsius in the mainland and 16 to 17 degrees in the Aegean islands. Winds in the Ionian Sea will blow northwest up to 5 Beaufort and in the Aegean north and northeast up to 8 Beaufort.
In Attica, no rain is forecast. The winds will blow from northeast directions and will reach 6 Beaufort in the Euboeikos and 5 Beaufort in the Saronic Gulf. The temperature will range from 12 to 21 degrees Celsius.
On the contrary, in Thessaloniki at noon it will be drizzling. Almost windless in Thermaikos, while the temperature will range from 12 to 23 degrees.
On Saturday, the dust will start to subside while showers will occupy the mainland, mainly the mountainous areas, during the afternoon and evening hours. The temperature will drop slightly with north winds in the Aegean Sea reaching 7 Beaufort.
Finally, on Sunday, apart from the further drop in temperature, there will also be instability in the midday, mainly in the mountains. The north winds will weaken a little, and the atmosphere after many days will be clear without dust.
