Hellenic Seaplanes has announced its intention to add lakes to its planned waterway network, which will in essence connect mainland Greece with several Greek islands. The company stated that through a cooperation with the Ministry of Infrastructure, Transport and Networks, has already submitted proposals for the creation of waterways in seven lakes. Namely: Trichonida in Agrinio, Vegoritida in Amynteo, Pamvotida in Ioannina, Kaifa in Zacharo-Ilia, Polyfyto in Kozani, Kerkini in Serres and Prespa in Florina.
“The creation of a network of waterways and the development of transport via seaplanes in Greece is now a given, in Greece, and we will attempt to cover all destinations, including those with nearby Greek lakes”, stated Nikolas Charalambous, CEO. After Easter, Hellenic Seaplanes will submit proposals to create waterways in additional lakes such as as Plastira, Kastoria, Vistonida and Volvi. The company’s ultimate goal is to create waterways for seaplane connections between several Greek islands, mainland ports and lakes where transport links present many difficulties.
