The upgrading of Greece as a pillar of stability in the Eastern Mediterranean, combined with Qatar’s commitment to invest over €1 billion, is at the core of the visit by the Emir, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, to Athens.
According to official sources, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani will be received at 10:00 a.m. by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the Maximos Mansion. This will be followed by a one-on-one meeting, the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation, and expanded talks. Discussions will focus both on regional developments and prospects for de-escalation, as well as on further deepening economic cooperation between Greece and Qatar.
Particular emphasis is being placed on investments, especially in the energy sector, as well as broader projects in infrastructure, tourism, and real estate. The Qatar Investment Authority has already expressed interest in investments exceeding €1 billion in the Greek economy.
The visit is taking place amid increased instability in the wider Gulf region, with Athens positioning itself as a reliable interlocutor and investment destination, maintaining open channels with all sides while supporting stability and energy security.
