For days, associates of the Prime Minister had been saying that Kyriakos Mitsotakis would be at the New Democracy conference from Saturday morning until midday. However, in doing so they left open the possibility that he could depart after noon, especially since his closing speech is scheduled for midday on Sunday.

Indeed, at midday on Saturday, Mr. Mitsotakis will depart for Messinia, heading to the Costa Navarino hotel, where a closed session is being organized by ANT1 Group president Thodoris Kyriakou and Atlantic Council president Frederick Kempe, within the framework of the group’s cooperation with the leading American think tank.

As the “Dark Room” column revealed earlier in the day, the summit meeting will attract heavyweight names from the global political and economic scene to the popular Messinian resort, at an extremely critical juncture for world affairs. Former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair has also played a role in shaping the event, having in recent months assumed the role of senior advisor to the ANT1 Group.

According to information from protothema.gr, those who have confirmed their attendance at the closed session titled European Gulf Forum include IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, ECB President Christine Lagarde, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, UK Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, and Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides.

In addition to Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the Greek side will also be represented by Eurogroup president Kyriakos Pierrakakis and Greece’s European Commissioner Apostolos Tzitzikostas.

The names arriving from the Gulf countries are equally high-profile, many of whom maintain strategic partnerships with Mr. Kyriakou within the framework of the group. It is worth noting that K Group, the international investment group of the Kyriakou family, and the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), Qatar’s sovereign wealth fund, announced the creation of a joint investment fund with capital amounting to 1 billion dollars.

Among those expected at Costa Navarino are the Emir of Qatar, Mohammed Al Thani, who recently visited the Maximos Mansion; QIA CEO Mohammed Saif Al Sowaidi; Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Ahmad Al Sabah; Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud; UAE presidential diplomatic adviser Mr. Gargash; UAE Minister of Industry Sultan Al Jaber; Bahrain National Security Adviser Nasser Al Khalifa; Bahrain Finance Minister Salman Al Khalifa; and Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary-General Jassem Mohammed Albudaiwi.

Former U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Amos Hochstein, whose field of activity has long included the broader region, has also received an invitation.
