A meeting is being held today at the offices of the National Public Health Organization (EODY) in light of the surge in Ebola cases in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, as part of decisions taken by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC).
As previously reported by ygeiamou.gr, the ECDC has already decided, among other actions, to dispatch experts to the DRC to support the response to the outbreak in the African country.
At the same time, the ECDC is in discussions with the EU Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Mechanism as well as the Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network (GOARN) regarding the possible deployment of additional experts, depending on how the situation evolves. These experts would work in areas such as infection prevention, epidemiology, surveillance, and risk communication, with the aim of supporting response efforts in both the DRC and Uganda.
