Archbishop Elpidophoros of America was taken on Sunday morning to the 424 General Military Hospital in Thessaloniki after feeling unwell while at the Cathedral Church of Saint Nicholas in Aretsou, in the Kalamaria area.
According to reports, the Archbishop was inside the church when he began to feel severely unwell, prompting the mobilisation of the competent services.
An EKAV ambulance was called to the scene, picked him up and transferred him to the 424 General Military Hospital of Thessaloniki.
His transfer was carried out under the escort of a Hellenic Police patrol car.
