Immense amounts of money will be transferred from the Depression-era generation to their Baby-Boomer children – the generation that was born in the period after the World War II (ie from 1946 to 1964).
This is what Sarbjit Nahal and Beijia Ma of Bank of America argues. The generation of the Great Depression was the one that experienced the crash of ’29 and fought in the World War II. An American journalist, Tom Brokaw, named this generation Greatest Generation because, as he wrote on his book, there were great men and women who fought not for their personal glory or wealth, but for the “prevalence of right and law,”.
Now, Nahal and Ma indicate that “a second, even greater transfer of wealth is pending, this time from Baby-Boomer generation to their children, which will be continued for the next 30 or 40 years,”
The amount to be transferred reaches about 12 trillion dollars and the transfer will be made by those born in the ’20s and ’30s to the children of the postwar period. However, the amount that the latter will transfer to their children is even bigger, at 30 trillion dollars in the U.S. alone and this will happen over the next 30 years.
