A large-scale police operation has been in progress in Mykonos since Wednesday morning, with Greece’s Hellenic FBI (the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime) dismantling a criminal organization allegedly involved in extensive drug trafficking activities on the island. Four arrests have been made so far.

According to reports, the case is the result of a months-long targeted investigation, during which officers monitored the group’s activities for an extended period. Among those arrested is the alleged leader of the organization, an Albanian national who has previously come to the attention of authorities for drug-related offenses, along with three Greek nationals believed to have acted as drivers and associates.

Sources indicate that the organization used a tourist transportation company operating vans as a front for its drug trafficking activities. The vehicles were allegedly used both to transport members of the group and to distribute narcotics, primarily in Mykonos Town (Chora) and other areas with high tourist traffic.

During the operation, investigators searched the Albanian suspect’s residence, which was allegedly being used as a stash house for narcotics. Authorities seized quantities of:

  • Cocaine
  • “Pink cocaine” (Tusi)
  • Ketamine
  • Methamphetamine
  • Ecstasy tablets
  • Raw cannabis

According to the same sources, cocaine was being sold on the island for prices ranging from €150 to €200 per gram, with tourists and nightlife patrons forming the group’s primary customer base during the summer season.

The operation by the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime is ongoing. Authorities have not ruled out further arrests or additional discoveries, as searches of homes, vehicles, and other locations continue.
