Police were placed on high alert on Saturday afternoon after a suspicious suitcase was discovered on Evelpidon Street in the Kypseli district of Athens.

The suitcase was found by a homeless man inside an abandoned building, who alerted the authorities.

When police officers inspected the suitcase, they discovered a body inside. Authorities have not yet been able to determine the victim’s sex.

The area was immediately cordoned off to allow forensic teams to examine the scene and collect evidence.

The investigation has been assigned to the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime, and inquiries are ongoing.
