A wildfire broke out on Thursday afternoon (July 30) in Paleopoli, Andros. A 112 emergency alert was sent to residents of Paleopoli, instructing them to evacuate toward Batsi.

The fire is burning low vegetation. A total of 12 firefighters are operating at the scene with five fire engines and one helicopter. Municipal water tankers are also assisting the firefighting operation.

At 2:31 p.m., the 112 emergency system sent a message to residents of Paleopoli urging them to leave the area: “Wildfire in the Paleopoli area of the Regional Unit of Andros. If you are in the Paleopoli area, move away toward Batsi. Follow the instructions of the authorities.”
