The Stavros Niarchos Foundation announced that its Board decided to allocate 100 million euros to help combat the adverse effects of the Greek economic crisis. Chairman of the Board Andreas Drakopoulos announced that this amount had been benchmarked for Greece’s impoverished groups at the opening of the 4th Conference on Welfare Action in Athens.
The donation program will include funding to non-government organizations in Greece for a year. The foundation had allocated anouther 100 million euros in over 220 donations to the sectors of social welfare, health, education and culture.
