New footage showing the moment an F-16 fighter jet crashed during a training flight in Yalova, Turkey, has been released. The pilot managed to abandon the aircraft in time by using the ejection system and is being hospitalized with his life out of danger.

The F-16 had taken off yesterday from Eskişehir for a training flight and at around 15:00 crashed near the facilities of the 18th Main Air Base Command in Yalova. Following the crash, an investigation was launched to determine the causes of the accident, while the Yalova Prosecutor’s Office also issued a relevant statement.

A new video that has been released, filmed by a car driver, shows the fighter jet (or some part of it) passing over the vehicle and crashing a few meters away, inside a forest.

Pilot ejected from the fighter jet

According to the prosecutor’s statement, the F-16 belonged to the 1st Main Jet Base Command in Eskişehir and crashed in the Taşköprü area, in Yalova’s Çiftlikköy district.

The prosecutorial investigation began immediately after the incident, with two prosecutors taking charge of the case under the coordination of a deputy head of the Prosecutor’s Office.

The pilot, a lieutenant colonel identified by the initials E.T., used the ejection system before the crash and was transferred to Yalova Training and Research Hospital.

As was made known, his life is not in danger, while his hospitalization and treatment are continuing.

At the same time, orders were given for an on-site inspection and for a report to be prepared by a special team of experts, in order to determine the circumstances under which the crash occurred.
