You can't say "no" to referendum travel on the cheap

Capital controls on bank accounts restrict people's ability to travel, however some discounts are in place to help alleviate the financial burden

With these rates you can combine voting with a quick weekend getaway:

* Hellenic Seaways announced that it is slashing referendum transport by 50% for citizens wishing to vote in the referendum from Friday through to Wednesday, July 8.

* There will be 50% discounts for Greek Railway (OSE) tickets through to July 6, the day after the referendum – a 25% discount will apply for KTEL intercity bus services.

* All highway toll charges will be suspended over the weekend to ease joureys of voters wanting to participate in Sunday’s referendum.

* There is free travel on public transport following capital controls placed by the Radical Left Coalition on Monday. Athens metro, buses, trolley services are free until July 7 but not for the Proastiakos suburban train.

* Aegean Airlines has scheduled extra flights from London to Brussels so that Greeks living abroad can come to Greece to vote in the referendum due to take place on July 5, 2015. CLICK HERE for more details
