The meeting, which was also attended by Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance Thanos Petralias, confirmed the excellent state of relations between Greece and Romania and explored prospects for further strengthening bilateral economic cooperation, with a focus on investment, trade, energy and connectivity.

What Was Discussed

The talks also focused on the major challenges facing the European economy today, the need to strengthen Europe’s competitiveness and productive base, and the mobilization of greater amounts of European capital for investment in defense, energy and technology.

Kyriakos Pierrakakis stressed that Greece and Romania, two countries with strong historical ties and a shared European path, can make a meaningful contribution to building a more competitive and resilient Europe with greater strategic autonomy.

Particular attention was paid to economic developments in Southeastern Europe and the role Greece and Romania can play as pillars of growth, energy security and regional cooperation.
