“He is the man that Greece urgently needs,” the article mentions describing the former Secretary of Revenue “successful” and recalling that despite his success he was removed from office.

“Behind this action lies a political farce,” explains Focus, and describes the financial problem of Greece underlining that Greece is in the midst of the debt crisis mainly because quite a few citizens have not paid their taxes for many years. “Haris Theocharis came to change this,” the article mentions, adopting the view of the former General Secretary of Revenue who believes that his removal was processed due to political rather than economic reasons.

According to Focus that refers to Greek press, the command for Theocharis’s removal came from very high. “Now” it seems to be the government’s command. It is also mentioned that Theocharis was forced to submit his resignation by former Finance Minister Stournaras.
