One of the dozens of people who had the opportunity to address their questions to Russian president Vladimir Putin was Edward Snowden. The former NSA agent who whistleblew on the illegal tapping scandal was straightforward, asking the Russian president: “Are Russian citizens being watched”?
Even more revealing and straightforward was Vladimir Putin himself, however, in his reply where he stated that he has worked in the KGB, and that Snowden has worked in the NSA, so they can speak as one professional to another, publicly admitting his capacity as a former agent, and boldly continued that under Russian law, it requires a judicial decision to monitor someone. Russia, as he stated, does not possess a mass surveillance system and nothing like that can exist, due to Russian laws, he underlined.
The Russian president stated that his country does not have the “technological means” or “as much money as the U.S.A.” in order to support such an effort, leaving everyone with…their mouths agape once more!
