Who will buy former King Constantine II’s London Mansion? (pics)

A mansion fit for a king is on sale at the Hampstead Garden Suburb for just 10.95 million pounds - prestige included!

Newsroom July 22 09:02

The former mansion of exiled King Constantine II of Greece at Linnel Drive, Hampstead Garden Suburb, has been put on the market. Located just around the corner from Bishops Avenue, otherwise known as Billionaires Avenue due to hugely wealthy residents, it features a master bedroom with dressing room, en suite bathroom and balcony as well as 12 other bedrooms, large garden and swimming pool. Bishops Avenue is particularly popular with the Greek community and the house for sale, like others in the region, are influenced by Grecian architecture and design.

The home will need some remodelling but the interior is still attractive with exquisite views over Hampstead Heath. The lucky buyer will be able to construct a substantial extension and leisure floor to prove more than 18,000 square foot of accommodation. King Constantine lived in the property for 46 years after he was ousted from power in 1967.

King Constantine and his wife left this home in 2013 and permanently returned to Greece with his wife two years ago after the former king who was stripped of his Greek citizenship and property in 1994 became homesick. He now resides at Porto Heli after the king’s summer residence, Tatoi Palace, was seized after the abolition of the monarchy and has been subsequently put up for sale.

Glentree Real Estate Managing Director Trevor Abrahmsohn refers to the UK home for sale as a historic property:

“I used to live round the corner from the home. We often used to see Princess Diana in the Mercedes convertible which Charles forbade her to buy and Prince William and Harry were often at parties there.”

“The house is very understated and the Greek king was very dignified. Greeks like their luxury but everything needs to be quiet and gentle and dignified. Russians and Nigerians seem to like conspicuous opulence and the trappings of materialism but Greeks are just the opposite.

The house is presently owned by a person of no name and is ideal for someone who craves privacy.
