After the riots come the Santas in the city of Athens (photos)

On Saturday night protestors torched Panepistimiou street, but this morning Santas ran through the city with festive cheer…

So what if last night Athens was a war field as protestors torched the city with Molotov cocktails? This morning it was all clean and ready for the first ever Athens Santa Run as 600 “Santa Clauses” gave the street a festive feel again.

The places in the fun run were sold out ten days before the event. Santas geared up on Sunday morning to run the 2.5-km race down Panepistimiou Street in order to raise money for the Athens Municipality’s children’s parks.

The youngest Santa taking part was just three months old and the oldest was 84 years of age.
