Greece’s Committee of Experts on Covid has recommended the immediate suspension of all festive events in open public spaces after it met today to discuss the impending onset of the Omicron mutation.
Experts also suggested the use of high protection masks indoors, but also outdoors, when there is overcrowding. Restrictive measures to curb the spread of the Omicron variant, which is expected to become dominant in the near future and in our country are expected to be valid after the holidays.
The imposition of measures had been announced by the Minister of Health Thanos Plevris, speaking in Parliament, who made mention of the meeting of the committee of experts. The Omicron variant has alerted health authorities around the world, and scientists warn that its high transmissibility will put even more strain on health systems.
