Kouachi brothers dead after gunfire and explosions in Dammartin printworks

It is still unclear if Police forces launched an operation or whether the executioners of the 12 journalists attacked

The live “thriller” in progress in France, for the last few hours, starring the perpetrators of the attack on Charlie Hebdo, is over.

The two brothers were located at 8.30 a.m. on Friday morning and a gunfight reportedly took place 20 minutes away from the forest where the police had been searching for the brothers late on Friday night. Residents of Dammartin-en-Goele had been told to stay indoors.

After a bloody chase with a car that was stolen by the terrorists, the brothers Kouachi had barricaded themselves in a CTD printing company in Près Boucher, and had taken a 26 year old company employee as hostage.

The attackers shouted at the negotiations that they are determined to “die as martyrs”, while a “Steel curtain” of police forces surrounded the warehouse.

All this, while a little after 13.00 local time, it became known that another couple, in the heart of Paris, have taken hostages in a Jewish grocery store , with one person seriously injured.

The two cases were linked, since the grocery store hostage takers have demanded that the Kouachi brothers be left unharmed.

However, at 17.00 local time, the two Kouachi brothers were killed after Police and armed forces stormed the warehouse.

Earlier, a car chase reportedly started on the N2 road, which leads from the region in which the manhunt was taking place toward Paris. Reports suggest the chase went on in the direction of Paris, close to the Charles de Gaulle airport, after the gunmen were sighted hijacking a car at the Oise region where a huge police operation was against them. Following this they moved to Seine-et-Marne in a Peugeot 206.

“We have indications that the terrorists are within our perimeter,” said France’s Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve during the car chase. “The national police and the gendarmerie are working to locate them. The GIGN (police force) is in position and the operation is being conducted minute by minute, led by the director general of the gendarmerie and the national police, the counter terror authorities and the Interior Ministry.”
