British actress Vanessa Redgrave visits refugees at Piraeus port

She said it is a shame for Europe and for the Europeans to not accept refugees and some countries to continue to keep their borders closed

British actress and activist Vanessa Redgrave on Wednesday visited the refugees and immigrants who are temporarily hosted at passenger terminals of Piraeus port.

Mrs. Redgrave spoke with refugees and immigrants and listened closely to their problems, with most of them saying that they want to go to Europe but the borders are closed.

The famous actress visited Piraeus port in the framework of her documentary on refugees where the refugees themselves will tell their story.

In her statements, Mrs. Redgrave said it is a shame for Europe and for the Europeans to not accept refugees and some countries to continue to keep their borders closed.

She was accompanied by playwright Martin Sherman and responsible of the Greek department of “Medicines Sans Frontieres” Apostolos Veizis.
