CDC technician exposed to Ebola virus

He will be watched for 21 days

A CDC technician, who was possibly exposed to Ebola due to a lab error is now under monitoring for 21 days.

According to a New York Times report, which cites statements by federal officials, he is a worker in the US Center for Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta, Georgia, and has been possibly exposed to the deadly Ebola virus.

The error which took place on Monday but was discovered on Friday, is about the transfer of Ebola samples from one lab to another. The technician carrying samples wore gloves and a medical robe but did not protect his face with the mask, according to the Times.

Apart from this technician, another 12 employees will be screened, who entered the part of the establishment where the incident took place.

Representatives of the CDC were not immediately available for comment.
