Depp-Herd trial: Johnny Depp wins case – $15 million in damages awarded

The jurors found Herd guilty of defamation

Newsroom June 2 09:46

Johnny Depp is the winner in the legal dispute with Amber Heard.

The jurors did not consider the evidence presented by the actress in court sufficient, but neither were convinced by her “acts”.

Their decision characterizes “all Amber Herd’s allegations as false”.

It is recalled that the actor filed a lawsuit against his ex-wife, for defamation in an article in the Washington Post.

Amber Heard accused him of physical and psychological abuse during their 15-month marriage.

Johnny Depp sued her over her claims, demanding $50 million in damages, and she later filed a $100 million lawsuit against him.

After three days of discussions and after examining all the evidence, the jury concluded that the actress should be found guilty of defamation against her ex-husband.

More specifically, the jurors decided that the statement was false, defamatory and made in a malicious way.

The actor was awarded $15 million in damages.

Herd won one of her counterclaims against Depp over his lawyer’s comments to the Daily Mail and was awarded $2 million in damages.

The actor was not present in court, as he is in the United Kingdom, but immediately after the result, however, he issued an announcement on social media.
