Digital El Greco exhibition at Athens National Gallery

This tribute to the vastly influential artist of Greek origin was inaugurated in the presence of President of Republic Prokopis Pavlopoulos

The National Gallery in Athens has inaugurated a digital exhibition featuring significant works by El Greco, one of the most well known artists of his time, and still to this day, over 500 years after his death.

This tribute to the vastly influential artist of Greek origin was inaugurated in the presence of President of Republic Prokopis Pavlopoulos, Attica Region governor Rena Dourou and Alternate Minister for Culture Nikos Xydakis.

The digital exhibition includes some of El Greco’s monumental works that cannot be moved due to their immense size or because they are in temples and religious institutions.

The curators of the exhibition have managed to recompose collections and ‘gather’ works which have been scattered around the world, in order to present them to the public with the help of advanced digital technology.
