PASOK leader critical of government

Socialist PASOK leader E. Venizelos accused the government of destroying the framework set by the previous govt

Socialist PASOK leader Evangelos Venizelos told private SKAI TV on Tuesday that the government’s strategy and choices weren’t the best. He lashed out against Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and Parliamentary Speaker Zoi Konstantopoulou.

He said that the Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) government’s proposal for an investigating committee on the memorandums from 2009 onwards indicated an attempt to protect former New Democracy prime minister Kostas Karamanlis and his government. He said that the specific proposal came a day after Tsipras asked for the opposition’s support. Despite this criticism he said his party would support the proposal as he is in favor of a retrospective discussion on the crisis and the memorandum.

He accused Konstantopoulou of being inflammatory and described her role as a facilitator to ease tensions and protect the opposition, nonetheless she does anything but this.
