EasyJet is not just a pioneer in cheap travel options, but also fashion forward. It unveiled a world first by including LED messages with customers’ flight details into its cabin crew and engineers’ uniforms. The airline will try the new look at the start of 2016 with wearable technology aimed at improving communication and passenger safety procedures.
The low-cost airline teamed up with a fashion company – CuteCircuit – that had used textiles and micro-electronics in the past for performers such as U2, Katy Perry and Nichole Scherzinger.
The “futuristic uniforms” are being launched to coincide with the airline’s 20th anniversary and will revolutionize travel thanks to their built-in pics, illuminated hems and smart displays of important info.
Engineers will also get jackets with air quality sensors and barometer features to help staff monitor their work environment and create a map of air quality in different cities for passengers info.
