ELSTAT: Growth rate for 2013 revised to -3.3% from -3.9%

The benefit for 2013 from the GDP revision is estimated (at current prices) at 384 million euros

The Hellenic Statistical Authority published today a report on the revision of the national accounts which reflects both positive and negative changes on the GDP progress during the last six years.

According to the revision report, there is an improvement in the GDP in 2012 (-6.6% from -7%) and in 2013 (-3.3% from -3.9%).

On the contrary, GDP takes a turn for the worse in the period 2008-2011.

In particular, it is calculated at -0.4% (instead of -0.2%) in 2008, at -4.4% (instead of -3.1%) in 2009, at -5.4% (instead of -4 9%) in 2010 and at -8.9% (instead of -7.1%) in 2011.

This benefit has minimum positive accounting impact on the public debt (0.3%), which now stands at 174.8% of GDP, instead of 175.1% of GDP based on the previous methodology.
