Government spokeswoman Sofia Voultepsi told ANT1 TV on Thursday that issues concerning the uniform real estate ownership tax (ENFIA) should be settled within a day.
She said that a number of people should be held accountable for the mistakes in the ENFIA tax calculations and not just one person. “Someone made a mistake, someone else failed to make double checks etc,” she said.
Though she agreed that the taxes were excessive she described them as “one-off” and provisional. “The things that are happening in the country are a result of extraordinary conditions. This heavy taxation is on its way out; it is extraordinary and will end. We are negotiating on the debt, which is being officially declared viable,” she said.
