Egremni beach, video of destruction, as Lefkada moves 36 cm south (pics + vid)

Egremni beach of Lefkada is no more!

One of the most beautiful beaches on Lefkada was destroyed by large boulders that came tumbling down during a landslide caused by a magnitude 6.1 earthquake that killed two on Tuesday, November 17. Luckily, the summer season had ended as this picturesque beach is a tourist favorite with high rankings on Tripadvisor.

Seismologist of the Athens Geodynamics Institute say that the island of Lefkada moved 36cm to the south during the strong earthquake. There were 20 aftershocks noted through the night. The island has now been declared a state of emergency for the next six months with 29 houses and 13 public buildings deemed uninhabitable or unsafe.
