European Code Week to be held on October 11-17

The idea is making coding more visible, demystify these skills, and bring motivated people together to learn

The second edition of EU Code Week will take place 11-17 October 2014. It is an initiative of the European Commission under the “Digital Agenda” and it was launched by Neelie Kroes’ Young Advisors with the support from DG Connect at the European Commission.

The idea is making coding more visible, demystify these skills, and bring motivated people together to learn.

Throughout Europe and in Greece millions of children, parents, teachers, entrepreneurs and representatives of public life will participate in events and attend courses to learn coding and acquire relevant skills.

The initiative has attracted the support of coding and education movements like CoderDojo and Rails Girls and of major tech and IT companies (e.g. Rovio, Microsoft, Telefonica, Liberty Global, Google and Facebook) who are all helping bring coding to millions of children for example by offering coding taster sessions, by developing learning modules and helping to train teachers.
