Eleven people were killed and thirty six others wounded in an explosion that occurred in the central Istanbul district of Vezneciler near a bus stop on Tuesday, according to news channel Haberturk.
The blast, set off by remote control, occurred during the morning rush hour, as Reuters reports, while many ambulances have been sent to the area. The NTV broadcaster said the explosion occurred as a police vehicle was passing the area.
Pictures showed the wreckage of a bus destroyed and the facade of nearby buildings damaged.
The area is a commercial hub, while the Istanbul University and many well-known tourist sites like the Grand Bazaar are very close to the area.
No one has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
