A Bangladeshi passenger ferry carrying more than 200 of people has capsized on Monday morning, as the ferry was crossing the river Padma in Munshiganj district.

According to international media, a rescue operation is undergoing and 50 people have already been rescued. No victims have been reported yet, but authorities fear of dozens dead passengers, since more than 100 people are still missing. At the time of the accident strong winds were blowing.

Such accidents occur frequently in the rivers of Bangladesh where dozens of people are killed every year, mainly due to overcrowded and poor quality ferries.
