Finally, the 106 survivors arrive home

Warm long embraces with their families – We didn’t believe that we’ll make it, they say

With tears in their eyes and full of emotion arrived today at the Greek Venizelos Airport in Athens all 106 survivor passengers of Norman Atlantic.

Their unbelievable adventure finally came to an end the moment they were able to hug their loved ones, which also had a very hard time in anticipation to hear about the fate of their relatives.

Astonishing testimonies by many that lived to tell a tale.

“There was nobody to lead the passengers. I witnessed people fall into the sea”, says one of them.

According to a truck driver it was the “Passengers that handed out the lifejackets”.

“It was a fellow colleague truck driver that risked his life and managed to tie the flaming ship to the tow ship”, says another.

“I broke my arm in the ship –No alarm rang and in half an hour the whole ship flared up” describes another passenger and continues: “I saw people falling overboard, drowning, the crew members left first”.
“Wind, rain, snow, hail, and we were burning”, said another surviving and stresses how the passengers fought for their lives.

All 106 passengers arrived in Athens with the Aegean airlines free of charge from Brindisi.
