Flight MH17 victims’ remains arrive in the Netherlands

A day of national mourning for the country

Two aircraft carrying the remains of the victims of the Malaysia Airlines Boeing which was shot down over Ukraine arrived at an airbase in Eindhoven in the Netherlands.

The aircraft departed at noon from Kharkov, eastern Ukraine transporting the remains of 40 Flight MH17 victims, out of a total of 192.

These are a Dutch military transport, Hercules C-130, which was carrying 16 bodies and an Australian C-17 Globemaster with 24 corpses.

The aircraft with the bodies were welcomed by the King, the Queen and the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, as well as hundreds of relatives of the unfortunate passengers, while today has been declared a day of mourning for the country.

According to reports, the remains of the victims will be transferred at a military base in the Netherlands in the next few days. There, experts will undertake the arduous task of identifying them, which may take months.
