The richest Greeks are the world’s poorest billionaires

Three Greeks have made Forbes list of the world’s wealthiest for 2015. These are the eldest son of deceased shipping magnate Stavros Niarchos, Philippos Niarchos. The new list states that his assets are valued at 2.5 bln dollars, making the 61-year-old art collector the 737th richest person on the planet in 2015, down from 687th place in 2014.

Philippos Niarchos, married with four children, spends his time traveling between London and Paris and is considered one of the 10 most prolific art collectors in the world. He owns works such as Van Gogh’s “Self-Portrait with Bandaged Ear”, which is worth 100 mln dollars, as well as Andy Warhol’s “Green Car Crash”, valued at 47.9 mln dollars.

Within breathing distance is Spyros Latsis whose fortune is estimated at 2.4 bln euros, placing him in 782nd place on the world list, down  from the 506th position in 2014.

Mining tycoon Aristotle Mystakidis is third, worth 2.2 bln euros (894th position in 2015, down from 687th position in 2014.
