Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos made the following statement on Tuesday in reference to statements and comments being made in Germany with regard to war reparations and the occupation loan:

“These matters have been raised and are being raised via diplomatic channels. Thus, they cannot be responded to or resolved through unilateral statements in the new media; statements stemming from simple journalistic reports.

Such weighty issues are dealt with only within the framework of international law, particularly between partners and friends with a historical memory and respect for international law.”
