France: 48 year old woman was arrested because she traveled to Syria

Her son is suspected of fighting in Syria in the ranks of Islamic State

A 48 year old woman was arrested last week in France, prosecuted and has been detained since she visited Syria three times. According to a judicial source on Wednesday, her son was fighting in the ranks of a jihadist organization.

A criminal investigation was launched in late April for this woman, who is presented as convert and “fully radicalized” and supports militants who carry out holy war raging in Syria against the government of Bashar al-Assad.

The 48 year old, according to the same judicial source had made three trips to Syria between December and last time in April during which she had a church wedding.

Her son, on the other hand, is suspected of fighting in Syria in the ranks of the Islamic State. However, he is located in the targeting of another anti-terrorism underway investigation in Paris.

The woman was arrested on the 2nd of July and was charged late last week. Yesterday a special judge ordered the temporary detention .

According to a different judicial source, 58 court proceedings began on the 1st of July in cases involving departures to Syria in which 230 people seem to be involved.

French Minister of Interior Bernard Kaznev presented this morning in the Cabinet a bill to strengthen the legislative arsenal in order to cope with the increase in departures to Syria.
