German Chancellor Angela Merkel held a press conference in Cologne hours after a German airliner crashed in the Alps. She expressed her deep sorrow over the accident.

“We are in shock. We are mourning. We are doing everything so that relatives have all the help they require”, stated the German Chancellor on the crash of the Germanwings aircraft.

She announced that she will be travelling to the crash site tomorrow, while her ministers of Transportation, and Foreign Affairs, are already on the way there accompanied by air transportation experts.

At the same time she said Germany, France and Spain will cooperate so that the reasons for the crash are uncovered.
