German Vice-Chancellor: New Greek gov’t must be 'fair' to German citizens

Gabriel said that that Germany hopes to carry out a fair dialogue with the Greek government

German Vice-Chancellor and Finance Minister Sigmar Gabriel sent a clear message to the new Greek government on Wednesday, urging it to “be fair to the citizens of Germany and the rest of Europe,” who have proved their solidarity towards Greece time and again in the last few years.

Underlining that Germany respects the democratic choice of the Greek people, Gabriel said that that Angela Merkel’s government “hopes to carry out a fair dialogue” with SYRIZA, with the goal of keeping Greece in the Euro zone.

However, the German Vice-Chancellor stated that cannot happen at the expense of tax-payers in other countries.
