Greek and Italian orange production to drop

The FAS of the USDA released two separate reports indicating a drop in orange production in Greece and Italy

The Foreign Agricultural Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture believes that damaging rain in May and June may result in a decline in Greek and Italian orange production, according to its web site.

The predicted crop is expected to be at 850,000 metric tons in the 2014-2015, down from 970,000 tons in the previous year.

A separate report states that Italy’s harvest will fall 5.6% to 1.7 million tons from November to October.
